ADMISSION TO FULL TIME / PART-TIME PH.D. RESEARCH PROGRAMS
FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2024-25
Admissions will be made to the following Full-Time / Part-Time Research Programs offered by the JNAFA University, Hyderabad and in its Constituent colleges for the Academic Year 2024-25.
- Architecture
- Painting
- Urban and Regional Planning
ELIGIBILITY:
The following are eligible to seek admission to the Ph.D. programme:
1. Candidates who have completed a relevant 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree programme or a relevant 2-year/4-semester Master’s degree programme after a 3 year Bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.

Equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized, or authorized by an authority, established, or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
2. A relaxation of 5% marks or an equivalent grade may be allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC/Differently Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME: The Ph.D. Programme shall be for a minimum duration of THREE (03) years for Full-time research and FOUR (04) years for Part-Time research, including course work from the date of admission. However, the maximum duration for completing the Ph.D. programme shall be six (06) years for Full-time research and eight (08) years for Part-Time research from the date of admission.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE: Procedure for Admission into Ph.D. programme:
The admission shall be based on the criteria notified by the University, keeping in view the guidelines/norms in this regard issued by the UGC and other statutory/regulatory bodies concerned, and taking into account the reservation policy of the State Government from time to time.
• Admission into 85% of seats in each Program shall be reserved for the candidates belonging to Telangana State (Osmania University region).
• The balance of 15% seats shall be Un-Reserved seats.
• The candidates belongs to Andhra Pradesh State (AU and SVU region) will be considered as Non-Local under Un-Reserved seats if any.
PH.D. ELIGIBILITY ENTRANCE TEST (PEET): Admissions for the Research Program (Ph.D.) shall be made on the basis of written test and interview, as per UGC stipulations by Director Admissions, JNAFAU. Category II candidates have to appear in the Ph.D. Eligibility Entrance Test (PEET) in the subject in which they wish to pursue Ph.D. All the candidates who possess at least the minimum percentage of marks at PG Degree as specified in clauses 2.1 & 2.2 are eligible for the test. Candidates must appear for the entrance test conducted at JNAFAU, Hyderabad at their own cost. The date and time of the Entrance Examination will be announced at a later date.
The general pattern of the eligibility test is as follows:
1. The test consists of two sections
• Research Aptitude – 75 Marks
• Knowledge in the subject of specialization – 75 Marks
2. Maximum marks for eligibility test: 150 (75 marks for each subject)
3. Nature of Test: Objective type in the form of multiple-choice questions
4. Duration of the Test: 180 minutes or three (3) hours
The qualifying marks at the entrance test is as specified in the clause 4.2.iii and 4.2.iv.
VACANCIES AVAILABLE FOR PH.D. PROGRAMMES:
Only a predetermined number of students in accordance with the approved intake capacity shall be offered in the Ph.D. programs. Approved number of seats for the enrollment of Ph.D. scholars for the Academic Year 2024-25 is mentioned in the table below:

* Number of vacancies may change depending on the availability of the Supervisors.
Supernumerary Seats of 5% in each program will be meant for students of other states under National Integration Scheme (NIS). Admission in this quota will be applicable only to those candidates who have completely studied in other states (other than Telangana) in India. Candidates who studied outside India in other countries are not eligible for admission under NIS.
The admissions under NIS Quota is undertaken subject to availability of minimum number of seats in each program only.
FEE PARTICULARS: On selection for admission, candidates shall be required to pay the prescribed fee as per the following criteria and deposits. The fee and deposits have to be paid on stipulated dates regularly every year, till the successful completion of the programme and submission of thesis or cancellation of the admission as the case may be. If the fee is not paid by the stipulated due date, a late fee will be levied. Non-payment of the prescribed fee beyond the extended due date will lead to the cancellation of admission without any prior notice to the candidate.

Note: Mode of Fee Payment for Full-Time as well as Part-Time candidates is year wise. The Fee Structure may be modified by the University from time to time.
GENERAL:
- Application complete in all respects (in A4 size) along with a Demand Draft for 2,000/- (Rs. 1,000/- in case of SC/ST) drawn in favour of “THE REGISTRAR, JNAFA UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD” payable at Hyderabad on any Nationalized Bank towards Application Registration fee, is to be submitted to the Office of “The Director, Admissions, JNAFA University, Masab Tank, Hyderabad – 500 028” either in person or by Registered post /Courier on or before 19-09-2024 by 4.00 PM without late fee and with late fee of Rs. 1,000/- (Application Fee Rs. 2000/- + Late Fee Rs. 1000/- = Total Rs. 3,000/-) on or before 26-09-2024 4:00 PM. The applications shall be accompanied by attested copies of necessary documents / testimonials. The University is not responsible for any delay or loss of application in transit. Incomplete applications or applications received after the last date will not be considered and fee paid will not be refunded.
- Hostel facility is currently not available.
- The date and time of the Entrance Examination (PEET-2024) will be announced at a later date.
- Candidates are advised to visit the website jnafau.ac.in regularly for updated information regarding entrance examination, results, interview schedule etc. Further no separate notification will be issued.
