(Under Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT – Phase-II)

Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Govt. of India has awarded Maulana Azad National Urdu University support under the Visvesvaraya Ph.D. Scheme for Electronics and IT: Phase-II.

Total number of available fellowships under this scheme is 02 (One (01) Full-Time and one (01) Part-Time). This fellowship is applicable for both full-time Ph.D. Scholars and Part-Time Scholars. Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the PhD programme for the Academic Session 2026-27 under the ‘Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT: Phase-II’ as per the following details:

Major Features of the Scheme

For Full-Time Scholars:

  • Fellowship: Rs. 46,250/- per month in 1st and 2nd year and Rs. 52,500/- per month in the 3rd, 4th and 5th years of PhD (support till PhD completion or 5 years, whichever is earlier).
  • Reimbursement of Rent (RoR): Linked with the fellowship. Rate of RoR is 24%, 16% & 8% (of fellowship) for X, Y & Z class cities/towns respectively (as per Ministry of Finance notification for HRA).
  • Research Contingency Grant Support: Rs. 1,20,000/- per year for Full-time PhD candidates.
  • Support for attending international conferences: One-time support up to Rs. 1.5 lakhs for full-time PhD candidates.
  • Visit to Labs abroad: Only selected candidates fulfilling eligibility criteria (guidelines to be provided in due course) will be supported.

For Part-Time Scholars:

  • Fellowship / Incentive: Part-time candidates who do not avail any PhD Fellowship/scholarship/stipend from any Central or State Government shall be provided a one-time incentive of Rs. 3 Lakh on successful completion of the PhD degree.

Eligibility Criteria (Essential)

  • Post-Graduation in Computer Science / Computer Applications / Information Technology / or related interdisciplinary branch of Computer Technology with 55% marks and the eligibility criteria prescribed in general guidelines.
    OR
  • 1-year/2-semester master’s degree program in Computer Science / Computer Applications / Information Technology / or related interdisciplinary branch of Computer Technology after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program.
    OR
  • 2-year/4-semester master’s degree program in Business Management with specialization of Computer Science or IT / Data Analytics or related interdisciplinary specialization of Computer Technology with 55% marks and the eligibility criteria prescribed in general guidelines after a 4-year bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science / Information Technology.

Application Procedure

  1. The application form is to be filled with all relevant documents attached at https://manuucoe.in/regularAdmission/
  2. All applications not in prescribed form / without relevant supporting enclosures / received after the last date / without application fees will be out rightly rejected. No correspondence shall be entertained in this regard.
  3. The last date for submission of application is 05.10.2026 up to 17:30 Hrs.
  4. The Application Fee is to be paid online and is non-refundable.
  5. No TA/DA and Lodging/Boarding will be paid for attending the Entrance Test / Interview; no accommodation shall be provided.
  6. Any corrigendum / changes / updates shall be available only on the University’s Website: https://manuu.edu.in/. Candidates are advised to visit the website regularly for updates.

All other details mentioned in the MANUU admission advertisement dt. 05.04.2026 in the 2026-27 prospectus are applicable for this scheme.

Selection Process for Admission

  1. For all candidates, an Entrance Test will be conducted for admission under the Visvesvaraya PhD scheme.
  2. PhD Admissions shall be based on Entrance Test and Online/Offline Interview.
  3. Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the written test and/or interview.

Notes on Entrance Test:

  • The Entrance Examination will be conducted only at the Headquarters (Hyderabad Campus) in the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology.
  • Qualifying marks in the entrance test and interview will be 50%.
  • Part A: 50 MCQ questions (25 on Research Methodology + 25 on Computer Science) – 1 mark each.
  • Part B: 4 Descriptive questions (2 from Research Methodology + 2 from Computer Science) – 5 marks each.
  • Candidates who secure 50% marks in the Entrance Test will be called for Interview.

Instructions to Candidates

  1. Candidates are advised to be present in the examination hall 30 minutes before the commencement of the Entrance Test (ET).
  2. Only those candidates who possess a valid Admit Card and a valid ID card (College ID / Aadhaar card / Driving License) shall be permitted to take the Entrance Test.
  3. No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination centre after the examination has commenced.
  4. The candidates will be permitted to write the entrance examination only at the Headquarters, Hyderabad Campus.

Input Qualification:
■ ME/MPharm/MBA/MPhil from an Institute of repute or its equivalent with a minimum of 60% in aggregate.
■ Candidates with an MSc/BE/BPharm or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% in aggregate may also be considered for PhD admission. For PhD Programme in Humanities and Social Sciences, candidates with an MA and with a minimum of 55% aggregate may also be considered.
■ Full-time students: Candidates are required to devote full time towards PhD. Shortlisted candidates will be required to come to Pilani/Goa/Hyderabad campuses for test and/or interview. CSIR/UGC-NET qualified candidates will be exempted from written test.
■ Part-time students: Candidates working in organizations situated in close vicinity of campuses of BITS Pilani will be admitted under this scheme.

Assistantship: Those admitted to full-time PhD programme will be considered for Research / Project Assistantships up to Rs.25,000 per month. Selected candidates will be required to participate in teaching and other academic programmes of the institute under the guidance of a mentor.

Note: Eligibility shall be checked by a committee constituted by the Convener/Vice-Chancellor, for the purpose.

Faculty of Pharmacy:  M.Pharm degree or a Master’s degree in Pharmacy considered as equivalent by RUHS. Such candidates must have obtained atleast 55% marks in B.Pharm or M.Pharm. A relaxation of 5% marks at PG level to the SC/ST and physically handicapped candidates shall be given.

Candidate who has appeared for master’s degree program and whose result is awaited can also apply for RUHS Ph.D. Admission Test-2014. Such candidate shall be permitted provisionally to appear at RUHS Ph.D. Admission Test-2014. A candidate must qualify the master’s degree program so as to submit the marks statement of the same before the interview board during its meeting.

Reservation: The reservation of seats will be made subject to statutory provisions enacted by State of Rajasthan. Candidates are required to submit an attested copy of the caste certificate (SC, ST, Non creamy layer OBC, Non creamy layer SBC) or the additional category certificate (PH, WDP etc., if applicable) issued by the competent authority.

Number of Seats: The tentative number of seats in each specialization/subject will be available in due course at the RUHS website (www.ruhsraj.org). The number of seats may increase or decrease; the exact number shall be notified on the website of RUHS at an appropriate stage.
