Indian Institute of Geomagnetism is a premier scientific research organisation, having strong research programmes in Geomagnetism and allied fields. The Institute provides excellent infrastructural facilities and good career prospects.
Fellow : 2 Posts ( Both Reserved For SC) 1 Post Anticipated (Reserved For OBC)
Qualification : A First class Master’s degree in Physics/Geophysics/Mathematics. Preference will be given to those who have Doctorate degree in Geomagnetism or Allied fields or have 3 years research experience in these fields in a reputed Research Laboratory/Institution/University
Experience : Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following :
a) Archeomagnetism / Environmental magnetism
b) Geophysical Techniques
c) Computer networking and proficiency in use of software like Matlab
d) Instrumentation
e)Numerical Analysis and Mathematical Modeling
f) Space Physics
Location : Headquarters, Navi Mumbai OR at any of the Regional Centres of the Institute, viz Allahabad or Tirunelveli.
Maximum Age : 40 years with relaxation for SC post , 38 years with relaxation for OBC post
Technical Officer I : 1 Post (Unreserved)
Qualification : (i) First or high second class M.Sc. degree in Physics/Maths / Geophysics / Electronics or B.E. (Electronics) (ii) 2 years experience of working in the relevant field in a reputed Research Laboratory / Institute/ University.
Experience : Knowledge and experience in any one of the following :
a) Geomagnetism and related fields
b) Computer networking, hardware and software
c)Electronics
Location : Headquarters, Navi Mumbai or Magnetic Observatory,
Maximum Age : 30 years
Assistant : 1 Post (Reserved For SC)
Qualification : Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Science or Commerce with 3 years experience as UDC or equivalent post in a Govt/Semi. Govt/Public Sector Undertaking/Private Sector of repute. Preference will be given to graduate in Law and computer savvy persons.
Location : Equatorial Geophysical Research Laboratory, Krishnapuram, Tirunelveli.
Maximum Age : 35 years with relaxation

The candidates may apply on the form downloadable at www.iigm.res.in together with the requisite application fee of Rs. 100/- by crossed demand draft. The prescribed application form can also be obtained from the office of the Registrar by paying an application fee of Rs. 100/- by crossed demand draft in favour of Indian Institute of Geomagnetism, New Panvel either in person between 10.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. on working days (Monday to Friday) OR it can be obtained by post by sending an application alongwith the application fees and a self-addressed stamped envelope of Rs.10/- superscribing “Request for Application Form”. For SC / ST candidates, application form will be issued free of cost on production of valid caste certificate.
