The selection for admission to

3 – year B.Sc. (Nautical Science) Degree course at T. S.Chanakya, Navi Mumbai, Mumbai Campus;

4-year B. Tech. (Marine Engineering) Degree course at Marine Engineering & Research Institute, Kolkata, Kolkata Campus & National Maritime Academy, Chennai, Chennai Campus;

3-year B.Sc. (Maritime Science) Degree course at Marine Engineering & Research Institute, Mumbai, Mumbai Campus

4 year B. Tech. (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering) Degree course at Visakhapatnam Campus

for the session commencing in August 2012 will be made through the Joint Entrance Examination 2012 conducted by IITs on 08.04.2012. There will be no separate Entrance Examination for admission to the above institutes/courses for filling up the following number of seats and only those candidates whose names appear in the IIT-JEE-2012 Rank Lists will be called for counselling in order of merit, in the month of July/August 2012.

Indian Nationals seeking admission to the above mentioned institutes /courses must fill up the application form for III-JEE-2012 and also a separate application form issued by Indian Maritime University, Mumbai Campus.

Seats:

There are 185 seats in T. S. Chanakya, Navi Mumbai, Mumbai Campus;

123 in MERI-Kolkata, Kolkata Campus;

46 in MERI-Mumbai, Mumbai Campus;

40 in NMA-Chennai, Chennai Campus and

40 seats in Visakhapatnam Campus.

Application form along with information brochure giving the details of the Degree Programmes of the above Institutes, Medical standards etc. can be obtained from the designated branches of Syndicate Bank all over India on payment of Rs. 1000/- (General / OBC category) and Rs. 600/- (in case of SC/ST category).

The application form along with information brochure can also be obtained by post from the Indian Maritime University, Mumbai Campus, Karave, Nerul, Navi Mumbai-400 706 by sending a self addressed stamped envelope 12″ x 10″ size with stamp worth Rs. 85/- alongwith a DD of Rs. 1000/- (General / OBC Category) and Rs. 600/- (in the case of SC/ST category) drawn in favour of Indian Maritime University, Mumbai Campus and payable at Mumbai.

Such downloaded application forms are to be submitted along with the DD of Rs.1000/- (General / OBC Category) and Rs.600/- (SC/ST Category) drawn in favour of Indian Maritime University, Mumbai Campus payable at Mumbai

The State Child Labour Resource Centre (SRC) is a registered society under the Chairmanship of the Labour Commissioner, M.P., Indore. The SRC is implementing International Labour Organisation (ILO) sponsored project ‘Converging Against Child Labour : Support for India’s Model.’ We need a State Project Co-ordinator, one Project Asssistant and one Accountant to carry out activities of the Project at the state level for the. project duration of approx. 22 months on purely contract basis.

Indian National Science Academy (INSA)-Visiting Fellowship 2012

The Indian National Science Academy was established in January 1935 with the object of promoting science in India and harnessing scientific knowledge for the cause of humanity and national welfare. The foundation of the Academy, earlier known as the National Institute of Sciences of India (NISI), was the outcome of joint endeavours of several organizations and individuals and the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) playing a leading role in this regard.

Applications are invited for the following year from Indian citizens for the awards of INSA-Visiting Fellowship for conducting advanced research or undergoing specialized training of Indian Research Institutes/Laboratories.

Details of Awards

These Fellowships will be awarded on a competitive basis to the scientists for furtherance of their research and/or research capabilities for carrying out collaborative research, undergoing training in specific techniques, or utilizing facilities not available in their own institutions. The Fellowship will be for a minimum period of one month to a maximum of 6 months in a laboratory or research institutions of his/her choice within India located in another city, other than his/her own place. Fellowships to be awarded each year will be a maximum of 120 man months per annum.

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India has initiated a multi-institutional partnership program on biodesign called the National Biodesign Alliance Programme between Translational Health Science & Technology Institute (THSTI), Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, IIT Chennai and Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore.

Vacancies:

Business Development Officer – 1 No

Essential requirements:
MD/Ph.D. degree in Medical/Biological Science related field, OR MBA in Business or Marketing with basic degree in Biology or related fields
5-6 years’ experience in a Business Development role primarily in diagnostic / devices in medical biotechnology industry

Desirable:
Should have a strong knowledge of scientific principles guiding the aspects of diagnostics development – Broad background across the diagnostic industry – Should have thorough knowledge of regulatory approval process for diagnostics and devices in India, EU and US
Significant project management experience and ability to handle multiple projects.
Must be highly motivated, proven success in achieving business development goals, with ability to network extensively to create new alliance opportunities with targeted research organizations, pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry.

Essential requirements:

 Applicant should possess a PhD / MD / MTech in any branch of medicine / science (life / chemical / physical / engg.).
Applicants, who submitted their thesis and awaiting degree award are also eligible to apply. Applicants should have a proven/ outstanding track record as evident from research publications and recognitions.
Nomination/recommendation from the guide/supervisor/employer/HOD/Director of Institute is essential. The nomination letter should indicate the candidate’s competence for the award and should be sent directly in confidence to Administrative Officer by email (Please see the address given in clause 3 of general terms & conditions).
 Applicants should submit an innovation project proposal of about 1000 words in the field of advanced diagnostics research and application.

Desirables

Applicants should have research experience in recombinant DNA technology, protein expression in prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems, protein purification, protein engineering, antibody engineering, microbiology, immunology and virology.
First class grades in examinations of all academic courses for award of a degree from the graduate level onwards.
Cumulative publication impact factor of 10
Cumulative publication impact factor of 5 with two published Indian Patents or one International patent.
