The National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology (NIFFT), hereafter referred to as the Institute, offers doctoral research programmes leading to the award of Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Engineering and Science in the following departments:
(a) Department of Forge Technology
(b) Department of Foundry Technology
(c) Department of Manufacturing Engineering
(d) Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering
(e) Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities

ADMISSION: On the basis of overall academic performance in the qualifying examination, interview and/or written test, the Departmental Research Committee (DRC) will recommend the names of selected candidates along with the names of probable research supervisor(s) to the Central Selection Committee (CSC), which makes the final selection. Reservation policy of Govt. of India shall apply.

Eligibility for Admission: The minimum educational qualifications required for admission to PhD programmes in Engineering and Science is one of the following:
(a) M. E. / M. Tech. from a recognized institution or university in the relevant discipline, with at least 6.5 CGPA (or 60% marks) in aggregate.
(b) B. E. / B. Tech. in the relevant discipline or MCA from a recognized institution or university, with at least 7.5 CGPA (or 70% marks) in aggregate.
(c) M. Sc. or equivalent from a recognized institution or university in relevant discipline with at least 7.5 CGPA (or 70% marks) in aggregate.

How to Apply: The research scholars shall submit a prescribed PhD registration form (available with Ranchi University) to Coordinator (PhD and Research) with all relevant documents, which shall be forwarded to the Director for permission to conduct a pre-registration seminar.

Admission To Ph.D / M.Tech.(Research) Programmes Starting Autumn Semester (July), 2014-15.

Applications are invited online from eligible candidates for admission to Ph.D. and M.Tech. (Research) Programmes of the Institute with or without fellowship for Autumn Semester 2014-15.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Ph.D. Programme:
Management, and Humanities & Social Sciences is one of the following:
a) M.E./M.Tech./M.Pharm in relevant discipline with at least 6.5 CGPA or 60 percent marks in aggregate in both B.Tech. (or M.Sc./B.Pharm/ MCA) and M.Tech. levels from a recognized technical Institute or University.
b) B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm/MCA or equivalent in relevant discipline with CGPA of 7.0 or 65 percent marks in aggregate.
c) M.Sc. in Basic Sciences with CGPA 7.0 or 65 percent marks in aggregate in relevant disciplines.
d) M.B.B.S./B.V.Sc. with CGPA 6.5 or 60 percent marks in aggregate.

Additionally candidates having the following qualification can also apply for Ph.D. in Management and Humanities & Social Sciences:
M.A. / MBA / M.Com. /M. Sc. in Humanities, or Social Sciences or Management with 60 percent marks or 6.5 CGPA

M.Tech (Research) Programme:
The minimum qualification required for admission to M.Tech (Research) programme in Engineering, Science, Management, and Humanities & Social Science is one of the following:
a) B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm/MCA or equivalent in relevant discipline with 60 percent marks in aggregate (or 6.5 CGPA).
b) M.Sc. in Basic Sciences with 60 percent marks in aggregate (or 6.5 CGPA) in relevant disciplines.
c) M.B.B.S./B.V.Sc. with 60 percent marks in aggregate (or 6.5 CGPA).

Additionally candidates having the following qualification can also apply for M.Tech.(R). in Management and Humanities & Social Sciences:
M.A. / MBA / M.Com. /M. Sc. in Humanities, or Social Sciences or Management with 60 percent marks or 6.5 CGPA.

Financial Support: Fellowships/Assistantships are available to meritorious Ph.D. and M.Tech (Res) students of all departments.

Ph.D Programme @ National Centre for Cell Science

National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) invites applications   from candidates  who  are  bonafide Indian citizens and having   consistently  good  academic  record. Candidates  should have  strong motivation to pursue research in modern biology leading to a Ph.D degree.

Candidates who satisfy the following criteria only need apply:

  • Should have an M.Sc. degree in any area of Life Sciences
  • Qualified in the CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT examination for Junior Research Fellowship and Fellowship should be valid as on the date of joining. (Candidates in the “Project List of ICMR & category ‘B’ of DBT examination” need not apply).

The Ph.D. Programs are offered on:

(1)  Full-time basis

(2) Part-time basis for the candidates from National Research Laboratories and from Public Sector Units having research facilities and having an MOU with NIT-Warangal ONLY

Eligibility:

For Engineering: Candidate must possess a B.Tech. and M.Tech. / ME / MS or equivalent degree with first class (at all levels) with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 in 10 point scale grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate in the relevant stream and a valid GATE score.

For Mathematics: Physics and Chemistry: Candidate should possess a B.Sc. and M.Sc./M.Phil. or equivalent degree with first class (at all levels) with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 in 10 point scale grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate in the relevant subject and a valid GATE score.

For Management: Candidate should possess a B.Tech /M.Tech. with MBA (Two years Full-Time) from reputed Institute / University with first class (at all levels) with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 in 10 point scale grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate in the relevant stream along with a valid CAT /JMET/GMAT/NET/ GATE score.

The candidates selected for admission into Ph.D. under Full-time program are eligible to receive institute fellowship as follows. The tenure of a research fellowship is three years only.

(a)    Candidates joining with Master’s degree in, Engineering / Technology or a degree recognized as equivalent thereto,

       Rs.18, 000/- per month, for the first two years

       Rs.20, 000/- per month, in the third year.

 (b)  Candidates joining with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology or    Master’s degree in Science or a degree recognized as equivalent to any of them.

       Rs. 16,000/- per month, for the first two years

       Rs. 18,000/- per month in the third year

The    above   institute fellowships    are   subjected to changes    from   time   to time,   under instructions of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

The candidates will be selected through an institute entrance test and/or an interview.

The candidates selected for admission for Ph.D. under Fulltime basis are required to stay at the campus only.
