Admission to PhD Programmes (Second semester 2017-18)

Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani is a “Deemed to be University” established in 1964 under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956. Its campuses in Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai provide to over 12,000 students an all-round educational and co-curricular experience that is second to none in India. It offers UG, PG and PhD level programmes in Engineering, Science, Pharmacy, Management, Economics & Finance and Humanities & Social Sciences.

Applications are invited for admission to PhD Programmes at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses in the following disciplines:

Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Economics and Finance, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Management. Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmacy, Physics, Humanities and Social Sciences. Interdisciplinary areas such as Biotechnology, Energy, Environment, Robotics, Nano-science & Nanotechnology and Water Management.

Input Qualification:
■ ME/MPharm/MBA/MPhil from an Institute of repute or its equivalent with a minimum of 60% in aggregate.
■ Candidates with an MSc/BE/BPharm or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% in aggregate may also be considered for PhD admission. For PhD Programme in Humanities and Social Sciences, candidates with an MA and with a minimum of 55% aggregate may also be considered.
■ Full-time students: Candidates are required to devote full time towards PhD. Shortlisted candidates will be required to come to Pilani/Goa/Hyderabad campuses for test and/or interview. CSIR/UGC-NET qualified candidates will be exempted from written test.
■ Part-time students: Candidates working in organizations situated in close vicinity of campuses of BITS Pilani will be admitted under this scheme.

Assistantship: Those admitted to full-time PhD programme will be considered for Research / Project Assistantships up to Rs.25,000 per month. Selected candidates will be required to participate in teaching and other academic programmes of the institute under the guidance of a mentor.

Application Procedure: Interested and eligible candidates should apply through the prescribed application form available online at www.bitsadmission.com and send print out of the filled application form along with the prescribed fee of Rs.2200, to Dean Admissions, BITS Pilani, Pilani 333031, so as to reach at or before 5.00 pm, December 14, 2017.

Admissions to Higher Degree (PG) Programmes 2014-15

BITS Pilani is a “Deemed to be University” under Section 3 of UGC Act since 1964. Its campuses in Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai provide to over 11,500 students an all-round educational and co-curricular experience that is second to none in India. It offers UG, PG and PhD level programmes in Science, Engineering, Pharmacy, Management, Economics & Finance and Social Sciences. NAAC has accredited BITS Pilani with the highest grade “A”.

Applications are invited for admission to its 4-semester Higher Degree Programmes offered in various Disciplines. Admissions will be made on all India basis and on merit of candidates.

Input Qualification: Any integrated first degree of BITS or its equivalent with minimum of 60% aggregate specified at www.bitsadmission.com.

Note: Admissions to M.E,/M.Pharm are based on performance in computer-based online test conducted by BITS, to be held during 31st May – 1st June 2014 at specified centers in India.

Application Procedure: Eligible candidates may apply through the prescribed application form available online at www.bitsadmission.com and take a printout of the filled form. The completed application form along with the proof of fee payment of Rs. 1900 should be sent to Dean Admissions, BITS Pilani-333031.
