The National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is a compulsory test for admission to the 5-year Integrated M.Sc. programme in basic sciences – Biology. Chemistry. Mathematics and Physics-at National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai. NEST 2020 will be conducted in around 90 towns and cities all over India on Saturday, June 06,2020.

The candidates admitted to the programme are eligible to receive annual scholarship of Rs 60,000 through DISHA program of Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. In addition, the scholarship recipients receive grant of Rs 20,000 per annum for summer internship. Candidates selected by DST for the INSPIRE-SHE program are endorsed for INSPIRE scholarship by NISER and CEBS.

ADMISSION TO M.Sc (FOOD TECHNOLOGY) DEGREE COURSE

Applications are invited for 2 years M.Sc (Food Technology) Degree Course for the years 2014 – 16.

Eligibility Criteria: Bachelor Degree in Science or Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Engineering/ Technology.

Minimum marks requirement:
(i) 55% in optional subjects of B.Sc pass course (50% for SC/ ST category)
(ii) 50% for B.Sc (Hons.) course (45% for SC/ ST category)
(iii) Minimum second class for Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Engineering/ Technology

Entrance / Aptitude Test: Students who meet the eligibility criteria are required to take an entrance / aptitude test which will be held at Mysore on Saturday, 19th July, 2014. No TA/ DA is admissible for students appearing for this entrance/ aptitude test.

Reservation: For SC/ ST and Persons with physical disabilities – Applicable for admission to the course as per the Government Orders in this regard.

Selection process: 50% weightage is given to the qualifying exam marks and 50% weightage for the Entrance/ Aptitude test. Generally, the topper in each State of the Union of India is given admission.

Those who have appeared for final year examination and expect to get stipulated marks or class can also apply. Marks/ Grades of all the years of qualifying degree examination should reach this office as soon as possible, but not later than July 31st, 2014.

The application form is available online and completed application is also to be submitted online. Prior to online submission of the completed application, kindly take a print-out of the same. The print-out of duly signed and completed application in all respects with necessary supporting documents may please be sent to The Director, CSIR – CFTRI, Mysore – 570 020 along with a DD for Rs. 500/- drawn in favour of DIRECTOR, CSIR – CFTRI, MYSORE on or before June 6th, 2014.
