ADMISSION TO M.Sc (FOOD TECHNOLOGY) DEGREE COURSE

Applications are invited for 2 years M.Sc (Food Technology) Degree Course for the years 2014 – 16.

Eligibility Criteria: Bachelor Degree in Science or Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Engineering/ Technology.

Minimum marks requirement:
(i) 55% in optional subjects of B.Sc pass course (50% for SC/ ST category)
(ii) 50% for B.Sc (Hons.) course (45% for SC/ ST category)
(iii) Minimum second class for Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Engineering/ Technology

Entrance / Aptitude Test: Students who meet the eligibility criteria are required to take an entrance / aptitude test which will be held at Mysore on Saturday, 19th July, 2014. No TA/ DA is admissible for students appearing for this entrance/ aptitude test.

Reservation: For SC/ ST and Persons with physical disabilities – Applicable for admission to the course as per the Government Orders in this regard.

Selection process: 50% weightage is given to the qualifying exam marks and 50% weightage for the Entrance/ Aptitude test. Generally, the topper in each State of the Union of India is given admission.

Those who have appeared for final year examination and expect to get stipulated marks or class can also apply. Marks/ Grades of all the years of qualifying degree examination should reach this office as soon as possible, but not later than July 31st, 2014.

The application form is available online and completed application is also to be submitted online. Prior to online submission of the completed application, kindly take a print-out of the same.   2. The stipend and period of training will be as per Apprentice Act (Period of Training – One Year, Stipend Rs.3560/- per month for Graduate Apprentices and Rs.1970/-per month for Trade [Vocational] Apprentices).

Positions in Tomato Functional Genomics

At the Repository for Tomato Genomics Resources, we are working on Tomato Functional Genomics, using TILLING, Insertional Mutagenesis, proteomics, metabolomics approaches to study fruit ripening in tomato. The current aims of the group include using reverse and forward genetics strategies to isolate tomato mutants delayed in ripening, having high lycopene and folate content in tomato fruits and analysis of light and hormonal signal transduction pathways. Currently we have three positions available in the projects awarded to Prof. R.P. Sharma and Dr. Y. Sreelakshmi funded by Department of Biotechnology and Department of Science and technology. The qualifications for this Position is as follows:

Junior Research Fellow-1 position: Applicants should have M.Sc. in any branch of Life Sciences plus 2 years research experience in proteomics analyses-2Dgel/LC-MS or MTech with GATE/GATE equivalent with experience in mass spectrometry. Candidates with M.Sc. should be qualified in NET. Selected candidate would be paid Rs. 16,000+30% HRA.

Research Assistant: Applicants should have experience in networking using R language and should be able to develop networks using the trancriptome, proteome and metabolite data sets. M.Tech. in Bioinformatics is required. The selected candidate would be paid Rs. 15,000/-pm- consolidated.

Lab Assistant-1 position: Applicants should have one year experience in tiisue culture for generating transgenic plants. M.Sc. in any branch of Life Sciences is required. Selected candidates would be paid a consolidated pay of Rs. 8000/-pm.
